Haw River State Park

Haw River State Park

Jessup Ridge adjoins one of North Carolina’s newest state parks, the Haw River State Park. Located along the banks and wetlands of the Haw River, the park is situated on nearly 300 acres of piedmont forest, fields, wetlands, and uplands.  The Jessup family provided about 48 acres to the State to help enable the park expansion and land conservation to continue west of Church Street.

The HRSP is in the early stages of development for future public use.  Activities at the park center around the Summit Center, a retreat and conference center now operated as a residential environmental education center. As land acquisition continues and HRSP grows and develops, the park will be able to provide additional recreational opportunities—initial plans include picnicking, camping, and hiking opportunities.
